Asset Recovery Bureau

The Bureau is an autonomous public entity governed by a Board led by a Chairperson who is responsible for policy making and a Directorate headed by a Director responsible for the implementation of the provisions of the Asset Recovery Bureau Regulations and the execution of policy as established by the Board.

Department of Justice

The functions of the Department are those of co-ordinating, supporting and monitoring those areas in the justice sector which do not fall under the remit of the Courts of Justice Department but which however pertain to the administration of justice, thereby enabling the Courts of Justice Department to focus more on Court management and judicial proceedings.

Legal Aid Malta

Legal aid is the provision of assistance to low-income people who are unable to afford legal representation and access to the court system. Legal aid is important in providing access to justice by ensuring equality before the law, the right to counsel and the right to a fair trial to indigent people.

Malta Arbitration Centre

The Malta Arbitration Centre is a body corporate having a distinct legal personality which started its operations in March 2000. Amongst other, the functions of the Arbitration is to encourage domestic arbitration as a means of settling disputes, promote Malta as a centre for international commercial arbitration, provide conduct of international arbitration.

Malta Mediation Centre

The Malta Mediation Centre was established to provide a forum where two or more parties, involved in the dispute or litigation, may voluntarily refer or be referred by the Court or other adjudicating authority, to resolve their dispute through mediation, that is, the process in which a mediator, accredited by the Center, acts as an impartial third party with a view to facilitating negotiations between the parties in order to help them resolve their dispute by reaching a voluntary and timely agreement.

Notary to Government

The Office of the Notary to Government and Notarial Archives make up a single Government Department established by law and is headed by the Chief Notary to Government.
