National Accreditation Board

The National Accreditation Board-Malta (NAB-MALTA), is the national body responsible for the accreditation of various types of organisations collectively referred to as Conformity Assessment Bodies.  These include testing and calibration laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies.  Accreditation is the process of establishing the technical competence of such organisations via an on-site assessment through the use of internationally agreed standards such as the ISO17025 for testing laboratories.

The NAB-MALTA operates a management system which is in compliance with Regulation (EC) 765/2008 and ISO/IEC17011.  It is a full member of the European Co-operation for Accreditation and is presently an EA MLA (Multi Lateral Agreement) signatory for testing and calibration.  This allows results issued by laboratories accredited by the NAB-MALTA to have full recognition by other countries which are EA MLA signatories.
